Review: MAKE Cosmetics

MAKE cosmetics is one of the freshest new lines on the market.  After it's launch last January on WeSeeBeauty.com it already been seen backstage at some of the hottest fashion events including Daniel Vosovic's Autumn/ Winter 2013 presentation last week, here in NYC.

MAKE is the first for- benefit colour cosmetics line on WeSeeBeauty.com - a benefit marketplace of ideas, stories and products that support the cooperative movement.  One third of all MAKE product sales will support the non- profit organization, the We See Beauty Foundation, dedicated to incubate and accelerate women- led, worker owned cooperatives.  The foundations first project is establishing a cooperative in Brooklyn, NY called DO Good Be Beautiful, that will create and sell its own healthy cleaning and personal care products.

MAKE encourages creative self- expression and introduces a new way of interpreting and celebrating beauty.  In addition to the complete range of core products, MAKE will pair two unique artists each season to create a concept collection.  The first partnership pairs furniture and interiors designer Faye Toogood (who has worked with Opening Ceremony, Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen) with make up artist Ayami Nishimura to create the New Medieval Collection.

PR kindly sent a few samples my way to test out and guess what?  Faaaaabulousness!! I was sent the Silk Lipstick in Petra, the Luminous Lip Gloss in Nude and the Satin Finish Eye Shadow in Fennel.  I'm a sucker for that ultra sexy nude lip, and the lipstick's soft gold with peach undertones had just the right amount of sheen to make my look pop.  I only reapplied once or twice throughout the day so I would considerate it fairly long lasting.  I really love this shade because even with nothing but a little mascara, it made my (blue) eyes really stand out.

The gloss had a luxe, creamy texture that glided on without any stickiness.  It is a clay brown colour with peach undertones that created a very natural look with a super glossy finish.  I took notice of the uniquely shaped wand because it made application easier as it fit each contour of my lips.  As for the eye shadow, it was a pale leaf green with silver undertones and certainly lives up to its "satin finish" description.  It went on smoothly but was rather lightly pigmented for my taste.  If you prefer more subtle looks with a hint of colour and some shimmer then this is perfect for your collection.  If you like a bolder, take notice type of look, be sure to apply it over primer first and be prepared to add some layers.

Verdict:

I'm a total fan of MAKE and will continue to use their products.  I appreciate that it has set itself apart using a clear message and a solid mission, and incorporates quality into its products.

Have you tried MAKE?  Have you visited WeSeeBeauty.com yet?
