Review: Clinque Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser

Hi dolls, I wanted to post about a new face cleanser that I've been using for the fast couple of weeks and have had some pretty nice results.  A friend of my mother's had raved about Clinque's Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser, so my mother passed me along an extra tube for me to give it a try.

Even though I know Clinique is a fabulous brand, I was still nervous it might be too harsh for my sensitive skin or cause me to break out at some point.  But you know what?  It was ultra gentle and left my skin feeling smooth, clean, and break out free! :D It had a creamy texture that foamed once lathered, and the best part was I only needed a minimal amount to remove an entire day's worth of make up (lengthening its life span).  It isn't recommend for use removing eye make up, however, because it while it works gently over the face, it may sting your eyes.

My skin is on the dry side and I loved this cleanser because it didn't irritate it or leave any redness.  I found it gentle enough to use 1-2 times a day, (depending on whether or not I was wearing make up) and it left my skin feeling soothed and refreshed.  It's definitely a choice cleanser for those who wear much make up daily and are still seeking an efficient removal process.

Have you tried this cleanser?  What's your choice cleanser for make up removal?

Review: Too Faced Shadow Insurance

I continuously gush over Too Faced Cosmetics and I must warn you this post is no exception.  I finally snagged myself a tube of Too Faced's Shadow Insurance Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer and now I look back and wonder how I ever did without it.
Its packaged in a .35 oz squeeze tube, and required a minimal amount for application.  I applied it with my finger and was able to get smooth, even coverage.  It didn't leave any clumps or bumps.  I applied colour from Too Faced's Natural Eye palette over it (another one of my favs!) and the shadow went on very nicely.  The color payoff was strong and it didn't smudge or fade throughout the day.  My day even included a sweaty, two hour long work out at the gym, and the shadow still hadn't creased or worn off.
No doubt this primer is now a staple in my make up collection. I would especially recommend it for those of you who have long, busy days and don't have much time for touch ups.  It's totally reliable and worth every penny.

Retail: $20.00

Have you tried this primer? What is your favorite Too Faced product??

Review: Merlot Skincare Purifying Peel-Off Mask and Body Firming Lotion

You may recall a past post on Merlot Skincare , and now I've had the pleasure of working with some more complimentary samples from PR.  I've been using Merlot's Body Firming Lotion and Purifying Peel-Off Mask for a little over a month now and really love the results.

Retail: $15.00

The Purifying Peel-Off Mask has become a staple in my routine.  It works to cleanse skin, eliminate blackheads and impurities, as well as minimize pores- all of which my skin desperately needs help with.  This mask is a god sent.  Like all Merlot products, its made from natural grape seed and contains powerful antioxidants from the fruit in the vine.
Of all the masks I've tried in the past, I think this is my favorite.  You apply a thin layer to cleansed skin, let sit for about 10-15 minutes, and then peel it off.  I'll admit I was slightly skeptical at it's "peel off" removal, but it turned out to be breeze.
After application, I felt it begin to tighten as it dried.  Once the 10-15 minutes were up, I began to slowly peel it off, starting at my chin.  For the most part it peeled off easily in large chunks (kind of like a snake shedding it's skin if you will).  I found that simply rinsing my face with warm water and gently patting it with a towel removed any stray pieces that were left behind.
Afterward, my skin felt soo soft and rejuvenated.  It looked healthier and refreshed, and I noticed a decrease in blackheads around my nose.  My skin is on the dry side and it's recommended use of twice a week is gentle and effective.  It is the perfect fix to help revitalize tired skin.

Retail: $10.00

Next was the Body Firming
Lotion which I also liked.  Made with natural grape seed polyphenols it works to improve elasticity, firm, tone, and hydrate skin.  I applied it to my thighs, upper arms, across my stomach, and while I can't say I saw much firming, I definitely felt in increase in hydration.  Directions say to apply it twice daily but I will admit I missed a few applications.  Overall I like this lotion because it absorbs quickly into skin and hydrates very well.

Both products are great to get yourself summer ready and you can check them out at merlotskincare.com . What do you think?  Are you intrigued by  the peel off mask??

Goody Kicks it up a Notch

Goody has totally turned it out this season with some totally hot new must- haves!

Goody recently expanded it's dynamite "QuickStyle" Collection including the new Half-Round Styling Brush.  I still use the original Quickstyle paddle brush from last year, but this one is even better.  The styling brush is perfect for those who want that speedy blow out.  It contains the same absorbing micro fibers that act like a towel and removes up to 30% of the excess water from your hair.  The convex shape helps to add volume and body to your locks, and dries it in super fast time.
Retail: $11.99

Goody's TangleFix is a gadget every mama needs.  Made with soft, flexible bristles that move with the direction of your hair, it's perfect for brushing the tangles out on your little one, absolutely pain free.  I personally found it to be a little too gentle to get through my massively thick tresses, but I did find it useful in the shower and began using it to help distribute my conditioner more evenly.
Target: $7.99

Goody has also expanded it's best selling Ouchless collections to include so hot new additions that don't disappoint.  The Ouchless Ribbons are some of my favs.  They come in a variety of colors that look cute at the end of any braid, or as a fun accessory on the wrist.  An ugly black elastic (my old go-to!) is less then boring and these are a fun way to spice up your look.
Retail: $3.99

Also added to the collection is the Ouchless Velvet.  These chic new elastics/headbands add a luxe sophistication to any look. Infused with plush velvet fibers, they hug each hair strand and hold them in place.  I'm quite partial to the silky smooth texture and they fit comfortably while on.
Retail: 12 Pack Elastics $2.99
5 Pack Headbands $3.99

What do you think?  Will you give Goody's new items a try this season??

Get the Look: Coachella Festival Inspired Manis

Get bold this season with some electric hot nail looks by Katie Hughes, butter LONDON Global Color Ambassador.  These must-have manicures, inspired by the music festival’s free-spirited style are guaranteed to make some noise and have you rocking out!  Check out her below "how-to" tips and tricks to create these eye catching looks:

The Bad Seeds
Nail Look: butter LONDON Nail Lacquers in Sunbaker, Fiver and Poole
Katie’s How-To: “Rather than tossing old make-up brushes, I always suggest reusing them as tools for nail art. The tiny tips of eyeshadow brushes will make smooth lines and patterns easier to achieve. Begin with a layer of butter LONDON Nail Foundation followed by two coats of Nail Lacquer in Sun Baker. Take a pointed eye brush or bobby pin, dip it in butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in Poole and dot away! For added dimension, layer smaller dots – using butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in Fiver – on top of the existing dots to make the look pop. Finish off with butter LONDON’s P.D. Quick Top Coat.”

Flaming Mirage
Nail Look: butter LONDON Nail Lacquers in Fruit Machine, Bobby Dazzler, Sunbaker, Poole and Slapper
Katie’s How-To: “Becoming your own artist is one of the best ways to create unique nail looks. Begin with a layer of Nail Foundation followed by Nail Lacquer in Sunbaker. Pour butter LONDON Nail Lacquers in Fruit Machine, Bobby Dazzler, Poole and Slapper onto a piece of paper, keeping each shade separate. Take a small piece of saran wrap and dip it into one of the spills. Place the saran wrap over the nail to create a textured, layered look. Continue using saran wrap to layer the various shades of lacquer in different directions across the nail. This is really a look where no rules apply! Complete the look with butter LONDON’s P.D. Quick Top Coat which will protect the colours beneath it and give a super-shiny finish.”

Azteca
Nail Look: butter LONDON Nail Lacquers in Bobby Dazzler and Poole
Katie’s How-To: “Begin with a base coat of Nail Foundation followed by two coats of Nail Lacquer in Bobby Dazzler. Using Nail Lacquer in Poole, place the polish brush down on the center of the nail where you want the highest point of your pyramid to be and drag down to the tip of the nail. Simply repeat the same movement on either side, creating shorter lines until you fill the nail and create the pyramid shape. The trick with this look is to not use too much polish and not to press so hard on the nail with the brush as you create the pyramid. Finish the look with P.D. Quick Top Coat.”
